Best Trick: I’m really good at Army crawling under the couch to fetch my mini tennis ball and then pulling the yellow fuzz off of it. Sometimes I like to pretend that I accidentally dropped my tennis ball off the couch so my Mommy or Daddy will bring it back to me, but don’t tell them, it’ll just be our secret ;o)

Short Bio: I was born in Kentucky and one day I flew across the country to this place called Elko, Nevada that has mountains and little tiny trees called sage brush. This is where I met my new Mommy, Daddy and my two new siblings. We all like to hike in the mountains and run and play in the sage brush, but most of all, I like to play tug of war with my big sister, Lilly. She usually wins, but it’s super fun!

In fact, Pet lovers are guardians to nearly 100 million dogs and cats in the United States, and spend about $35 billion on their furry friends each year.
Studies show that people with pets live longer, have less stress, and fewer health problems. (Source: American Pet Product Manufacturers Association)

94% of pet owners say their animal pal makes them smile more than once a day. (Source: i-pets.com)

There are more than 9,000 species of birds. Parakeets, canaries, finches, and parrots are the most popular to keep as pets. (Source: Mississippi 4-H Pet Care Project)

In Australia, England, and the U.S., Max wins as the most popular name for pooches. Other popular dog names in the U.S. are Jake, Buddy, Maggie, Molly, and Bear. (Source: Bowwow.com.au)

95% of cat owners admit they talk to their cats. (Source: i-pets.com)

In Belgium in 1879, 37 cats were “hired” to carry bundles of letters to villages. But the service didn’t last long because the mail cats just wouldn’t cooperate! (Source: Best Friends Pet Care)

A cat will almost never meow at another cat-that’s because cats only meow to get our attention. (Source: i-pets.com)

Abraham Lincoln loved cats! In fact, he had four of them while he lived in the White House. His favorite was named Tabby. He also had a dog named Fido!(Source: i-pets.com)

Tests done by the University of Michigan proved that cats have better memories than dogs. The study shows that while a dog’s memory lasts no more than 5 minutes, a cat’s can last as long as 16 hours-and that’s more than even monkeys and orangutans! (Source, PBSKids.com)

Dogs can hear sounds that are too faint for us to hear. In fact, their hearing is so good they probably rely more on sound than sight. But the common belief that dogs are color blind is false. Dogs can see color, just not as well as we do. They can tell the difference between blue, yellow, and gray, but probably don’t see red and green. (Source: i-pets.com)

This month, the Three Dog Blog will focus on our favorite berry: the cranberry! When we say cranberries, we’re not talking about the red gel that comes out of a can on Thanksgiving. We’re talking about red, ripe berries bursting with benefits for your pooch. Did we mention they taste pretty good too?

The addition of cranberries to your dog’s diet has several benefits. Cranberries are rich in vitamins including A, B1, B2, C, and many nutrients. They are full of minerals including Calcium and Magnesium and antioxidants. Cranberries are an excellent supplement to your dog’s diet for the promotion of urinary tract health and they are good for the owner as well. Three Dog Bakery uses cranberries and other berries for the antioxidants and multiple nutrients found within.

Check out our delicious treats and foods featuring Cranberries:

Congratulations to our Winners:

My German Shepherd would let herself out the back door, as soon as we left the house in the garage door touched the ground. Should would spend the day socializing with all her doggie friends, splashing around in the lake, chasing geese, and running forever. She would be home right before we came home from work. Ferris Bueller Style!

-Jennifer

I think that if my Service Dog had an opposable thumb she would grab things off the shelf when we were shopping. While going down the dairy aisle she would grab a package of cheese, and she would be sure to stop by the bakery and grab a sample from the cookie bin. I think she would also give people a “thumbs up” when they said “oh look at the cute dog”, and a thumbs down when they gawk and stare.

-Olivia

If Sugar and Sissy had opposable thumbs they would open the fridge and cabinets and eat all their treats and then start on the baby carrots and our sandwich meat then proceed to the freezer and gorge themselves on frozen vanilla yogurt… In other words my 2 pups would rule the world with opposable thumbs!

-Cynthia

Although dogs are a man’s best friend, we are lucky that they don’t have thumbs. Imagine the dog that is able to open a box of Woofers or open the refrigerator door! Although we like to think a dog with opposable thumbs would hitchhike to Three Dog Bakery, what do you think your dog would do? Tell us by commenting on this blog post for a chance to win all-natural yummy treats for your furry friend.

Short Bio: While I may be beautiful, I’m tough, too! I protect my mom from all of the scary postal workers, delivery drivers, and people who wear hats. But my bark is bigger than my bite! My hobbies include watching my yard for squirrels and looking so pretty that my humans must give me a treat. I’m just a hound dog for affection and I’ll tell you when enough is enough (which is NEVER). I’d say I have it pretty good.
